I'm heading to Florida on vacation this April and I'm super excited for an early summer. I couldn't contain my excitement anymore and put together an outfit that I'll probably wear while I'm there. A jean dress, sun hat, sandals, heart-shaped glasses and a vintage camera accessory. The perfect casual and cute summer outfit.

Layers
This is an outfit I put together, reviving an old dress I never wore. I paired it with my jean shirt, white braided belt, and a few necklaces. I really love how the new look turned out

Beanies and Knit Socks
Recently I've accumulated two things that I have just been loving for this late autumn season. I'm probably going to be wearing them all throughout winter as well. At Marshalls the other day I picked up these lovely lilac crochet pattern knee high socks.
(Sorry bad quality my good camera is broken :/)
So far, I've found that I like wearing them folded over my combat boots for extra warmth and that girly meets edgy look that I looove.
My other brandy-new favorite is this super simple, super awesome, super cheap, white beanie.
I was stumbling around amazon.com looking for phone cases (post on that later) when I “accidentally" came across the beanie selection. Much to my delight, I found this bad boy for $0.85! (Not including shipping an handling) as I continued looking around I found plenty of beanies in all deferent colors from $0.50 to $5.00..... I've never been so excited in my life. So I you're looking for a simple cute beanie and you don't want to spend a lot AMAZON.COM! I know I'll definitely be making my way back there.

Exciting Patterns
Now, I'm not usually one for going crazy with patterns. I usually think with dresses especially that less is more. Let the accessories do the talking right? But when a very good friend of mine gave me this coral dress with a small panda pattern {apologies for the terrible quality in the pictures} for my birthday this past August I decided to leave my comfort zone and wear the pandas. After a day of wearing, this dress has become one of my favorites. I found the shape of it was quite flattering on my petite frame, the color is my favorite, and who doesn't love pandas? This dress has opened up an entire new world of patterns for me. I guess you never know if you like something until you try it :)

Halloween DIY: Evil Fairy Wings
One of the most fun parts of the high school experience is spirit week. This past week, one of my favorite days was All Hallows Eve Day. Halloween being one of my favorite holidays, ( I mean, who doesn't love a holiday where you dress up and people give you free candy?)I decided to go all out.
I was looking through my closet and found a pair of old fairy wings from my childhood. Suddenly a brilliant idea popped into my head. I'd transform the wings and be a dark fairy. This is how I did it.
1.)My materials were my wings, black spray paint, and a pocket knife (you can use really anything that can make rips and holes).
2.)I carefully spray painted the wings so that almost all of the light, cheery colors were gone. You can spray paint it completely and utterly black, but I thought it would look eerie to have just a hint of color showing through.
3.)Let it dry overnight.
4.) To me, this is the most fun part. I used a pocket knife (side note: these are quite handy to have, mine's quite old and dull so I don't know really how much they would cost now but If you're crafty it's a good investment)and a fork to rip holes and scratches in the wings. Anything sharp will really work. Go crazy.
5.) Flaunt your awesome original costume! I paired them with a black high necked shirt, black tutu, spider web fishnets, and edgy jacket.(sorry I never got a picture :/)
For makeup I made fairy-like patterns with silver eyeliner from my eyes to my cheek but use your artistic freedom. How would you picture a dark fairy to look?
So there you have it! Your easy breezy 4-step super cheap costume idea! Happy Halloween!

First Completed Painting
I have just recently finished my interpretation of a piece by Mary Cassatt. Although this is the second serious painting I've started it's the first one I've finished.
Here is the original:
And here is mine:
I'm fully aware that some parts are off,but it being my first finished piece I'm quite excited.
The bow, bucket and dress were my favorite parts. I used dry brush technique for some bits with acrylic paint on a canvas I stretched myself.I would love to see your artwork! email me at: colormyuniverse4@gmail.com
